I would like to emphasize here that it is just an opinion of one person and I truly admire the man Dr Kalam is as I had the honour of meeting him in person as well, but this book somehow did not impress me at all.
It was full of so much scientific terminologies and details that for a layman it is hard to stay focussed.
When I read an autobiography, I am more interested not to know about the factual details about a personality as that can be available anywhere on the internet. For me it is import I would like to emphasize here that it is just an opinion of one person and I truly admire the man Dr Kalam is as I had kdan honour of meeting him in person as well, but this book somehow did not impress me at all.
For me it is important to know the events that made the people great. Unfortunately this book fails to do that for me.
It is important to learn about the struggle story and the psyche of the individual in tough times to feel inspired and motivated by an account. That did not afni when I read this book. But then again it is the opinion of just one girl! With all respect to our beloved president This book fails to exactly portray the life of Mr. Kalam, It just shows glimpses of it and majorly making of the rocket in half of the book.
If you have a Ph. Even after reading the full book, the real picture of Mr. Kalam is not yet clear in my mind. This book was recommended to me by a senior professor of a very reputed university.
I bet he himself has not read it, ’cause if he would have, then he wouldn’t have recommended it. This is one of those books that sail in the bestsellers because of such recommendations. I wonder how this book even made to as atni best seller or at least so popular? This book clearly defines that still people judge the book by its cover.
So coming to the review, I was very gani disappointed with the contents of the bo This book was recommended to me by a senior professor of a very reputed university.
So coming to the review, I was very much disappointed with the contents of the book. It didn’t meet my expectations at all. I literally skimmed through the last pages just to take a breath of relief of having finished it. As a reader, we are interested to know about Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and not what payload is required to make a hovercraft. There were times I almost felt I’m reading a Kki for ‘how to make your first hovercraft’ and not an autho-biography.
If you are in search for inspiration, this is not the book. Pretty average reading for somone who is not really interested in the Government of India Missile programme. My personal feeling was that Kalam sahib has not really poured his heart and soul into this ufan, choosing instead to hide behind aphorisms and cliches. Or maybe he is actually genuinly passionate about rocketology? But his claims of great scientific achievements ring hollow as he has spend all of his life delivering projects, instead of any academic instituition.
I did not agree with his Pretty average reading for somone who is not really interested in the Government of India Missile programme. I did not agree with his view that doing it instead of planning is the way forward. The book is a bit of a waste of time I think Of all the autobiographies that I’ve read, this was the worst. Ratherof all the books.
I knowit is almost blasphemy to say anything against this great man but still I am going ahead with it. I did not get it. I know reading books is not exactly rocket science, but this one is!
Agni Ki Udaan
The jargon is all over the agnj. It should have a disclaimer saying that it is only meant for aeronautical engineers. Where there was no jargon, there was abundant dosage of Nope. Where there was no jargon, there was abundant dosage of philosophy. Both are not my strong points.
I have a great respect for Sir Agnii Abdul kalamhe is my inspiration too. I read an excerpt of his book and felt an urge of reading itChildhood days were quite good later it became a bore. I read for the sake of completing it. It was all about missiles and not his lifethough his efforts are commendable.
I Wanted to know more about him his daily lifehardships and much more. I am quite disappointed b I have a great respect for Sir Apj Abdul kalamhe is my inspiration too. I am agin disappointed by this book Apart from the first few chapters, the book does not do justice to this great man’s life.
The later chapters of the book delve too usan into the technical side of rocket science, which is not really required.
Since this book was published inthe reader misses out on those significant years of Dr. Kalam’s life when he served as the President of India. In the end, the book leaves you longing for another better written biography, including the latter stages of Dr. Personally this book does not appear as Biography of Mr.
It seems to be journey of our Missile and Rocket programme in India. When i held the book in handI had very high expectations based on the review read.
A good read for some one who wants to know a bit about kalam and who has not read any of this books. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here.

Well, one must be irking at me to give such a revered book only 2 stars. How can he possibly expect the layman to understand rocketry? The heavy scientific terms?? This book was impo Well, one must be irking at me to give such a revered book only 2 stars. This book was impossible. The whole book explores the concepts of missiles and rockets and the Indian Space Programme like a monotonous manual and then mi with a lecture on leadership, how and what should you do.
To me, this book was a big disappointment. I still admire and respect Dr Kalam, but his Wings of Fire sadly didn’t carry any fire for me!
For most part, this books talks technical stuff and terms which makes this book a slog and you really feel like finishing this book as soon as possible. The only good part are chapters on his life and praise he showers on other people.
The book is more an account of the missiles and technical projects he worked on. While I have a great respect for this legend, this book does not provide the inspiration quotient.
