Dead and Loving It by MaryJanice Davidson | : Books
I really like the Wyndham werewolves so i enjoyed this collection. It was very cute and heartwarming with Davidson’s trademark humor. It even had a nice twist at the end. My second favorite was A Fiend in Need. Fans of Queen Betsy and her Fiends will definitely enjoy this as we finally find out what happened to George! Santa Claws was interesting although it takes a decided left turn to Erotica in my opinion.
I have nothing against Erotica, but I prefer my Romance to be Romance and my Erotica maryjance be Erotica and I think that it was a bit much for more conservative fans.
I don’t want to open a can of soup and find out it’s pudding. I can’t believe I’m reading a romance when the main character guy rapes the woman he’s allegedly in love with and they walk off into a sunset at the end very causally mentioning the rape as if they were talking about an argument JUST because one is a vampire and one is a werewolf? That story was just weird.
I felt like I was reading one of those poems written by those poets who used to get lost in opium hazes and then write.
Dead and Loving It (Wyndham Werewolf) by MaryJanice Davidson
But as dsad as two of the stories were, the other two were too good to miss. One person found this helpful. I read Dead and Loving It and couldn’t find anything to love about it.
The book seemed deas be quickly stitched together like a popular sewing pattern. The stories were predictable, shallow and the characters left a lot to be desired. The typical boy wants girl, boy gets girl seems to be the recurring them with a foul mouthed she-wolf and rape thrown in for good measure. The stories literally read the same way. She uses the same lines from story to story and doesn’t even follow the vampire rules she created in her Undead series when writing Monster.
But that’s another bone to pick altogeter. In Davidson’s acknowledgement she thanks her husband for tending the kids while she’s holed-up writing. Don’t know how much time this book could have taken. The quality of the davidsoon show that they were probably churned out quicker than butter with none of the satisfaction for the end result. Let this serve as an example to all aspiring writers. If this mess can be published, then there’s hope for your novel, no matter how many rejection letters you’ve received.
I’ve only read one story in this book so far because I read the one that falls in line with the Queen Betsy series. Also because other reviews said don’t read all 4 stories back to back because you’ll get bored with the same repetitious story lines. It was a good story, although it could have been better had it been more than a novella. At least we got some background on Antonia and Garrett. I bought this book used so there are alot of reviews already.
I just want to say I enjoyed every one of these weird stories. Not every book has to be enthralling or mesmerizing some can just be fun to read. That is this one.
From a vampire who davidsson frightened to make love to deae woman because of his strength, to a werewolf who finds his mate on a city street ringing santa bells because she smells like fresh peaches. Next we have a blind werewolf doctor who finds he can see one fabulous woman that he needs for his mate, and guess what she is not human either.
The last story is about the fiend George from Betsy and Sinclairs Vampire stories. It was cute and made for four out of four cute stories. If you need to buy it used like me, do it. It is well worth the money and the wait.
Yet another book of short stories, 5 to be exact, that all pick up on characters from MaryJanice stories. These are all side stories from small characters that may have come up once, but the stories are a quick read and are very fun. There is a lot of passion and romance in each of the stories. There are even new types of characters, a fairy. All in all, the entire short stories can stand by themselves or be read after you ddavidson the Queen Betsy series.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Four awesome short stories in this book, all by MaryJanice. Each one is about a different werewolf finding their perfect match and all are affiliated with the same pack. The final story is about a werewolf going to see Queen Betsy. She – the werewolf- also finds Garrett when she gets there. I won’t spoil it and let you see for yourself who the delicious Garrett ends up being.
